Islands of Lakshadweep




Lakshadweep is a beautiful and unexploited , unique tourist destination. Lakshadweep, a group of islands is one of the most magnificent and amazing tourist places that attracts thousands of tourist every year. It lies in the Leccadive Sea, 440 km off India’s West coast. Built on ancient volcanic formations, Lakshadweep is the tiniest Union Territory of India
This is the sole coral formed beach in India. These coral reefs give each of these islands and the sea around them, a unique colour and beauty. The tranquil and perfect environment is the prime attraction of this island while it is a tourist paradise for natural marine life lovers and adventurous water sports lovers. Out of 36 islands, only 10 islands are inhabited, namely Agatti, Amini, Andrott, Bitra, Chetlat, Kadmat, Kalpeni, Kavaratti, Kiltan and Minicoy.





1.Minicoy Islands
Minicoy means "Majestic" in the regional dialect. Mahl is the spoken language unlike the other islands where Malayalam is used. As you enter this unique eco system, exciting possibilities open up. Starting with its crescent shape and lingering romantic beauty, the largest lagoon in Minicoy, slowly make you aware how different it is from the other islands.

2.Agatti Islands
The only island with an airstrip in Lakshadweep, Agatti is well renowned for its water sports activities. Agatti has remarkable and breath taking flora and fauna - attractive lagoons with coral froths and unique fishes.



3.Kavaratti Islands
One of the prime destinations for tourists, this island has amazing white coral-sand beaches, calm and soothing lagoons and immense greenery! Like all other islands in the vicinity, this too is a nature lover's paradise! The dancing coconut leaves, smell of the salty ocean and the sound of the waves are something that any tourist will never forget.



4.Kalpeni Islands
Also known as Koefaini, Kalpeni islands is a group of three islands and is one of the most picturesque areas of Lakshadweep. Cheriyam, Pitti and Tillakkam are the islands which together forms the Kalpeni islands.



5.Marine Museum
Situated in Kavaratti, Marine museum showcases plethora of marine related artifacts and aims at promoting marine products and its preservation. The interesting thing about the museum is its aquarium which has few of the most striking species of sea fishes and water animals.



6.Bangaram Islands
Blessed with the perpetually warm weather, Lakshadweep  makes for an ideal beach vacation to discover the vibrant marine life or simply admire the pristine white beaches or get your fill of adventure.
